Police Caught In The Middle

Today’s news is headlined by confrontation, protest, and violence involving U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and additional federal law enforcement agencies such as the US Coast Guard, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and often state and local police regarding matters of illegal immigration.
America's law enforcement seems to be caught squarely in the middle, tasked with maintaining law and order while trying to keep a lid on the seething cauldron of discontent and rising hatred.
A BRIEF HISTORY
This dislike, distrust, hate, and violence directed at America's law enforcement officers has been simmering and building a head of steam for a number of years, as seen by the following examples:
1992--In 1992 Los Angeles, Rodney King protests exploded into the deadliest rioting in modern U.S. times, with the rioting spreading to more U.S. cities. The result had profound negative effects on law enforcement throughout the entire nation.
In one large Midwest city nearly 3,000 miles from Los Angeles, the police were subjected to angry shouts of "Rodney King! Rodney King!"
One single incident in one city, and all 800,000+ of America's law enforcement officers were painted with the same police brutality, hate-police brush. As some veteran officers profoundly reflected at the time: "There goes 25 years of Community Policing down the toilet in one flush."
2009--Some cite the year 2009 as perhaps the "opening shot" of the anti-police movement.
