The Professional’s Guide to Planning, Managing, and Providing Security Transportation

Joseph Autera (New York, NY: Autera, 2021), 293 pages; $34.95 [Paperback]; ISBN: 979-8-7356-3618-2.

This is an excellent guide for security professionals for identifying, assessing and managing risk against a variety of threats in the transportation sector. Some of the strategies and tactics discussed by the author to mitigate security risks in personal travel are especially pertinent to corporate executives, government officials, and high net worth individuals. In the conclusion, the author observes that surveillance detection is “essential for managing the security risks that public figures and other at-risk individuals may be subject to” because it is “the only protection they have when it comes to preventing an attack from being carried out.” (p. 266) To be effective, the author recommends for surveillance detection personnel to notice a threat, tell someone, and do something about it. The author is President & CEO of Vehicle Dynamics Institute LLC, in New York, NY.
