Security Driver: Random Attacks

Once upon a simpler time which seems like yesterday we would teach that there were three simple steps or parts to a successful attack. When looking at the mindset of the attacker there was reason and motivation behind most attacks, reasons that the attack would actually happen. These days most attacks that we are reading about or seeing on the news are not well planned out, there is not much thought behind them and they are mostly random. Now I realize they are not attacking on principles or heads of state but never the less they are random attacks and on what seem to be random people. Many of the people being attacked on the streets don’t even see it coming.

In a planned attack there is a lot of surveillance and watching for your target’s weakness. We used to teach an attacker would have to surprise you, then control you, and they will most always look for viable escape. Controlling these three steps may still be the key to a successful attack or kidnapping. However, random violence that happens for no apparent reason is tough to predict. With drugs and crime sky rocketing out of control elderly are being beaten and robbed, drug crimes and drive by shootings are the new norm, a crazy person tossed another person in front of a subway train, mass mob robberies, armed gunmen situations, and a ton of other crime in most major cities.

This crime spike could be due to underfunded police departments, and more lenient laws on crime, but honestly, I believe...
